There are too many reasons to list as to why God is raising up a contending house of prayer in Southern California and specifically San Diego. However, something God has continued to speak about is an urgency for intercession over the hidden giant of Humanism on the University of California San Diego (UCSD) campus. For those who don't know what humanism is, simply put, it is the great deception of the serpent in the Garden of Eden. The promise of the serpent was that if we eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, we shall somehow become like gods. A humanist would say that man is the measure of all things, the pinnacle of existence.

The battleground of the enemy has never been as evident and blatant as we have seen on the UCSD campus. The picture below shows a 560 foot serpent which was created to model Satan. Also pictured is the UCSD library which was created to model the tree of knowledge of good and evil!

UCSD tour guides have said that the library is "the majestic glory of man, the greatest structure ever created far above any natural structure ever created." However, God says in Genesis 3:15 that there would be enmity between the seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent, and that the seed of the woman would crush the serpent's head. Paul wrote to the Church in Romans, "The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet." Romans 16:20 There is an army of Christians that are beginning to trample on serpents again. Aimee Semple McPherson, a revivalist in the early 1900's, came into San Diego and watched an amazing healing revival take place. While here she called San Diego the Eden of America. Aimee said that if revival were to come to San Diego that it would be like a homing pigeon to the rest of the world because of the tourism to this city.

Could it be that God is shouting to his Church right in San Diego and the nation to "Return to Eden" (intimate friendship with God)? On the same ridge as UCSD (Tree of Knowledge) stands one of the largest crosses in our nation, the Mt. Soledad Cross (Tree of Life, pictured below). For seventeen years there has been a battle for the Mount Soledad Cross. The cross of cavalry is to every believer the Tree of Life. Jesus said that He is the way, the truth and the Life. Whoever loses his life will save it. The cross is the way every Christian must go; it is the way of Life. The ridge in La Jolla is a perfect manifestation of the Garden of Eden and the war that is raging over our nation right now. This is the "American Idol" mentality and it has got to fall if we are to have a true awakening in this nation. Ephesians 6:12 "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood..." We do not lift our fists in anger against the students, professors or deans on this campus, but rather we raise our prayers to God to break the principalities and the spiritual authorities that have for too long bound our nation.

Prayer is the only weapon that can blast through the philosophies of this age. Colossians 2:8 "See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy which depends on the human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ." For too long chains have been put on millions in our nation. This spiritual slavery must be broken through prayer and fasting. God is raising up an army that will prevail in heavenly places!
