A House of Prayer

MY FATHER’S HOUSE SHALL BE A HOUSE OF PRAYER Matthew 21:6-7

The Conquering King, who is about to overcome all the powers of hell, comes in peace riding on a cold the foal of a donkey (Zechariah 9:9). The crowds understood Him to be “the Son of David”, the promised Messiah. The Messiah had come in the name of Jehovah “the Redeeming Lord” offering redemption. He is also the judge of all those who refuse His reign.

Jesus entered the temple, which was the center of the Jewish Government, the place where “heaven and earth met”. He found it corrupted, not being used for its dedicated purpose for which David and Solomon had intended, so He, The Messiah, cleansed it and judged it and judged those religious leaders that rejected God’s chosen anointed one. Jesus established seven principles of the house of He would build:

  1. House of Purity
  2. House of Prayer
  3. House of His Presence
  4. House of His Perfected Praise
  5. House of Faith (Matthew 21:18-22)
  6. House of Judgment (Matthew 21:23-46)
  7. The kingdom is given to another people (Matthew 21:43-44) which I believe to the redeemed of the Lord, Jew and Gentile.

The Lord Jesus is building His House, made up of people from every tongue, kindred and tribe (Ephesians 2:19-22). The nations are subject to His reign. He blesses those that honor Him and He judges those that refuse His salvation and grace.

This house is seen in His church, the body of Christ, created by the Holy Spirit and present now in the earth. Each local church should be a “house of prayer” developing relationship with the Father, hearing the Father’s will and doing the Father’s business in the local community. This is a place of purity, prayer, manifesting His presence through miracles and healings (1 Corinthians 12:27-28), perfected praise, men and women of faith, and His Authority. The Father’s Authority governs both in the church and also brings His kingdom to bare in the community (Acts 18-20 the church at Ephesus a model). His reign extends to the nations and His church is called to be a place of intercession for the people and nations that have not yet bowed to God’s reigning King.

This is the message that the Apostles brought, first to the Jews and then to Gentiles. It is important for us to study the Books of Acts and pay attention to the message of the Apostles taken from the Law and the Prophets. It is important to understand what the Lord said and did in the First Century in order to understand His will for our day and to know how we are to respond to our King.
